Old World Europe comes to Burlington
|
In Old World Europe the local bistro was the hub of the community – the gathering place where the food was rivaled only by the conversation. Communal platters of warm pita and humus, delicious mini-sandwiches, locally-grown vegetables and golden pommes frites were shared among friends. Local musicians found an audience in the evenings during dinner and into the night. Eclectic wines, smart cocktails and out-of-the-way ales, lagers, and porters added authenticity to the bistro, significant of culture and good taste. It was everyone’s restaurant, coffee house, dessertery, pub, and hang out – a social melting pot with something for everyone.
